Wilmington, North Carolina, was the main filming location associated with The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3.

The production entered pre-production in the Wilmington area in January 2024 and began filming on May 14, 2024. Wilmington had already been important to the series, with earlier seasons filming there and at nearby coastal locations.

The city’s surrounding beaches and waterfront settings helped stand in for the fictional Cousins Beach environment. The production history can therefore be confused with the story’s Massachusetts setting, but Cousins Beach is fictional and the filming base was in North Carolina.

The season’s start was delayed from its original 2023 expectation by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Once filming began, Wilmington again served as the central production area.
