London is the principal setting of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
The game takes place in Victorian London in 1868, during the Industrial Revolution. Players explore districts including Westminster, the City of London, Southwark, Lambeth, Whitechapel, and the Strand while confronting Templar control over the city.
Syndicate follows twin Assassins Jacob Frye and Evie Frye. Jacob builds a gang called the Rooks, while Evie investigates the search for a powerful Piece of Eden. Their different personalities and abilities let the campaign alternate between direct action and stealth-focused missions.
Historical figures featured in the game include Queen Victoria, Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens, Karl Marx, and Florence Nightingale. The setting also introduced a grappling hook and carriage travel, tools designed around London’s broad streets, rooftops, railways, and rapidly expanding urban infrastructure.
