Which city is the capital of Sweden?
Answer
Stockholm
Answer
Stockholm
Stockholm is the capital of Sweden.
The city occupies 14 islands where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea. This island setting is why Stockholm is often called the “Venice of the North,” although that nickname is also used for several other European cities.
Stockholm became Sweden’s political center during the Middle Ages. The oldest district, Gamla stan, developed around the island of Stadsholmen and contains the Royal Palace, Stockholm Cathedral, and narrow medieval streets.
Stockholm is also Sweden’s largest urban area and a major center for government, finance, technology, design, and culture. The Nobel Prize award ceremonies are held there each year, except for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, which takes place in Oslo, Norway.
