Which city is home to Yale University in Gilmore Girls?

The story behind the answer

Yale University is located in New Haven, Connecticut.

In Gilmore Girls, Rory attends Yale after graduating from Chilton. The university setting moves part of the story away from Stars Hollow and gives Rory new academic, social, and professional experiences. New Haven is the real Connecticut city where Yale is based.

Rory's choice of Yale is significant because the university was also attended by her grandfather, Richard Gilmore. She had long dreamed of attending Harvard, but ultimately chooses Yale after considering its advantages and her family connection to the institution.

Hartford is another important Connecticut city in the series because Emily and Richard live there. It is not Yale's location. Stamford and Bridgeport are also real Connecticut cities, but neither is the correct answer for Rory's university.
