Burbank hosted the laboratory that processed The Odyssey’s 65mm negative.
The film was processed at FotoKem in Burbank, California. More than 2 million feet of 15-perf 65mm negative were shot for the production, creating an unusually large volume of material for a modern feature.
FotoKem was described as the last film laboratory producing 70mm prints. After processing, the negative was scanned and converted into high-resolution digital files so editor Jennifer Lame could make initial cuts.
The post-production workflow later returned to physical film. The negative was cut and spliced by hand, while color grading used analog color filters on a light table. This combination made The Odyssey a notable example of a film using both digital editorial tools and traditional photochemical finishing.
