Robert Pattinson plays Antinous in Christopher Nolan’s 2026 film The Odyssey.
Antinous is described as one of Penelope’s suitors. In Homer’s Odyssey, Penelope faces pressure from suitors who assume that Odysseus will not return from the Trojan War. Antinous is traditionally portrayed as one of the most aggressive and influential members of that group.
Pattinson had previously worked with Nolan on Tenet, released in 2020. His casting in The Odyssey reunited him with the director for a very different kind of project: an ancient-world epic involving gods, monsters, seafaring, and the political tensions of Ithaca.
Antinous should not be confused with Telemachus, Odysseus and Penelope’s son, who is played by Tom Holland. He is also distinct from Eurylochus, Odysseus’s second-in-command, and Menelaus, the Spartan king played by Jon Bernthal.
