Abidjan has been the African Development Bank's headquarters since 2014.
The African Development Bank was founded in 1964 to promote economic and social development across Africa. Its headquarters are in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, where the institution was originally based.
The bank temporarily relocated its headquarters to Tunis, Tunisia, in 2003 because of political instability in Côte d'Ivoire. After conditions changed, it returned to Abidjan in 2014. That temporary move is the source of many incorrect answers to questions about the bank's headquarters.
The African Development Bank Group includes the African Development Bank, the African Development Fund, and the Nigeria Trust Fund. It finances infrastructure, regional integration, private-sector development, and other projects across African countries.
