Which city did Georgia O'Keeffe move to in 1907 to study at the Art Students League?
Answer
New York City
Answer
New York City
Georgia O'Keeffe moved to New York City in 1907 to study at the Art Students League.
At the League, she studied under William Merritt Chase, a prominent American painter and teacher. Her training included painting from models and still-life subjects, and she won the school's William Merritt Chase still-life prize in 1908.
New York was a major center for American art, and the move exposed O'Keeffe to museums, galleries, and the city's developing modern-art scene. She later returned to New York in 1918, when she began living with Alfred Stieglitz.
The Art Students League was not part of Columbia University or the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It was, and remains, an independent art school known for flexible instruction and influential teachers.
