Dublin became LinkedIn's international headquarters in 2010.
The Dublin headquarters marked an important step in LinkedIn's expansion beyond the United States. Ireland offered the company a base for serving international members and customers, while also placing its operations within the European business and technology ecosystem. LinkedIn announced the establishment of the headquarters in March 2010.
This was not the same as moving LinkedIn's global headquarters. The company's main headquarters remained in Mountain View, California. Dublin was designated its international headquarters, making the city a central hub for operations outside the United States.
The Dublin move formed part of a broader expansion period. LinkedIn had started India operations in 2009 and opened offices in Mumbai and Sydney as it built its Asia-Pacific team. In 2010, the company also received a $20 million investment from Tiger Global Management and announced its first acquisition, mSpoke.
