Which circuit is known as the 'Home of British Motor Racing'?

The circuit known as the “Home of British Motor Racing” is Silverstone. The track is built on the site of RAF Silverstone, a former Royal Air Force bomber station whose runways became the foundation for the racing circuit.

Silverstone hosted its first motor race in September 1947, followed by the 1948 British Grand Prix. In 1950, it staged the first-ever race of the newly created Formula One World Championship, making it one of the sport's most historically important venues.

The British Grand Prix rotated between Silverstone, Aintree and Brands Hatch during parts of the 1950s through the 1980s. Silverstone became the permanent host from 1987, although Brands Hatch and Donington Park are also significant names in British racing history.

The circuit straddles the border of Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. Its Grand Prix layout has changed repeatedly, including major revisions to improve safety and racing, but Silverstone remains the traditional home of British Formula One.
