Nvidia first surpassed a $3 trillion market capitalization in June 2024.
Nvidia crossed the milestone on June 5, 2024, after its share price rose sharply on demand for its graphics processors and data-center systems. Its stock later underwent a ten-for-one split in June 2024, which changed the per-share price but not the company’s total market value by itself.
The company’s graphics processing units became central to training and running many artificial-intelligence systems. Nvidia also develops CUDA software and supplies complete hardware platforms, making it more than a conventional consumer graphics-card maker.
Nvidia’s market value moved rapidly because market capitalization depends on the stock price. The $3 trillion figure therefore describes the value investors assigned to its publicly traded equity at that time, not a fixed balance-sheet total.
