Which Chinese pair won women's doubles badminton gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics?

The story behind the answer

Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen won women's doubles badminton gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

The Chinese pair defeated South Korea's Ra Kyung-min and Lee Kyung-won in the final. Their victory continued China's exceptional record in Olympic badminton doubles and gave China another major title in the event.

Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen were known for fast exchanges, strong court coverage, and coordinated attacking formations. Women's doubles is played without mixed-gender rotation, so both partners share the demanding defensive and attacking roles across the court.

They are sometimes confused with Ge Fei and Gu Jun, who won women's doubles gold at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics. Du Jing and Yu Yang won the same event four years later, at Beijing 2008. The Athens title specifically belonged to Yang and Zhang.
