Which chart gave Taylor Swift’s “august” its highest U.S. peak?

Taylor Swift’s “august” reached its highest U.S. chart peak on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, at number five.

The track also entered the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number 23. Its number-five position on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs was therefore higher than its broad all-genre Hot 100 placement.

The song stayed on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart for 20 weeks. That performance reflected the way Folklore blended pop songwriting with dream-pop, guitar-pop, and soft-rock elements.

A common mistake is to answer “number 23” because that was the song’s Hot 100 peak. Both figures are correct for different charts, but the question asks for the highest U.S. peak among its listed U.S. chart appearances.
