Which character is Toby Ziegler's ex-wife and a Maryland congresswoman?

Andrea Wyatt is Toby Ziegler’s ex-wife and a congresswoman from Maryland in The West Wing. The character, often called “Andy,” is played by Kathleen York and works with Toby on criminal-justice legislation.

Andrea and Toby were already divorced before the series begins, but their relationship remains an important recurring thread. Their contrasting personalities—Toby’s intense, guarded idealism and Andy’s sharper political pragmatism—produce both comic friction and serious policy disagreements. Despite their divorce, they continue to share a close connection and raise their children together.

Andy is also the mother of Toby’s twins, Molly and Huckleberry “Huck” Wyatt. The character is sometimes confused with White House staffers such as Annabeth Schott, Ainsley Hayes, or Amy Gardner, but those women do not combine Andy’s Maryland congressional role with her history as Toby’s former wife.
