Which character is the main racing rival of Lightning McQueen in Cars 3?

Jackson Storm is Lightning McQueen's main racing rival in Cars 3.

Storm represents a new generation of highly engineered race cars. He is faster and more technologically advanced than many of the older competitors, and his dominance makes Lightning question whether he still belongs in top-level racing. Storm's confidence and dismissive attitude make him the central competitive obstacle of the film.

Cars 3 was released in 2017 and returns to a more personal racing story after Cars 2's international spy plot. Lightning begins training with Cruz Ramirez, a young technician and simulator specialist who eventually becomes an important racer herself.

Jackson Storm is voiced by Armie Hammer. His black-and-blue design contrasts with Lightning's red body and familiar number 95. Francesco Bernoulli, from Cars 2, is a different rival, while Chick Hicks is Lightning's major antagonist in the original Cars.
