Emily Charlton is now a senior executive at Dior in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

In the 2006 original, Emily was Miranda Priestly’s first assistant at Runway. She was intensely focused on fashion, desperate to attend Paris Fashion Week, and famously treated the job as the central priority of her life. The sequel shows how that ambition eventually carried her into a senior role at Dior.

Emily’s new position also connects her directly to the sequel’s main conflict. Dior is an important Runway advertiser, and Emily uses her corporate influence during negotiations involving the magazine. Her professional success places her on a more equal footing with Miranda and Andy than she had in the first film.
