The Tekken character who is a luchador wearing a jaguar mask is King. He is a Mexican professional wrestler whose mask, powerful grappling techniques, and dramatic ring persona make him one of the series' most recognizable fighters.
The name King represents two related characters. King I appeared in the original Tekken and Tekken 2, where he was a former street brawler who became a masked wrestler and worked to support an orphanage. After his death at the hands of Ogre, one of the orphanage's children adopted the identity of King. King II debuted in Tekken 3 and continued the wrestling legacy.
King's design draws inspiration from Japanese wrestler Tiger Mask and Mexican luchador and priest Fray Tormenta. Players sometimes confuse him with Armor King, another masked wrestler, but Armor King wears a darker panther- or jaguar-themed mask and is a separate character. Craig Marduk is also linked to King's story, though he is not the masked luchador described here.
