Tati Gabrielle plays Jade in Mortal Kombat II. Jade is a longtime Mortal Kombat character who originated as a hidden, unplayable fighter in Mortal Kombat II, the 1993 arcade game, before becoming a regular member of the series’ roster.
In the game mythology, Jade is an Edenian warrior and an ally of Princess Kitana. She is known for her speed, staff combat, and distinctive green costume. The film introduces Gabrielle’s version of the character as part of the expanding ensemble surrounding the battle between Earthrealm and Outworld.
Kitana is an especially easy character to confuse with Jade because the two are close allies in the games and both are Edenian fighters. In the movie, Adeline Rudolph plays Kitana, while Gabrielle plays Jade. Sonya Blade and Sindel are separate characters portrayed by other performers in the franchise’s cast.
