Which character does Paul Newman voice in Pixar's Cars?

Paul Newman voices Doc Hudson in Pixar's Cars.

Doc Hudson is the medical doctor and judge of Radiator Springs, but he has a hidden racing past. He was once the Fabulous Hudson Hornet, a champion who won three Piston Cups before a crash ended his racing career.

Newman was a real actor and former professional racing driver, making his casting especially fitting for the character. His experience with motorsport helped give Doc's racing history added authenticity, and the Hudson Hornet was a real automobile associated with early stock-car racing.

Doc initially resents Lightning McQueen because the rookie reminds him of the attention-seeking racer he once was. Their relationship changes as Doc becomes Lightning's mentor. Cars was Newman's final feature-film voice role before his death in 2008.
