Lucy Pevensie discovers Narnia through the wardrobe in C.S. Lewis’s first published Narnia novel.
In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Lucy explores a wardrobe while playing hide-and-seek at the country house of Professor Kirke. Instead of finding its back panel, she steps into a snowy wood in Narnia and meets Mr. Tumnus, a faun.
Lucy’s siblings initially doubt her account, but Edmund later enters Narnia himself. Eventually, all four Pevensie children reach the magical country and become involved in the struggle against the White Witch. Lucy is portrayed as observant, compassionate, and especially receptive to wonder.
Polly Plummer is another important Narnian character, but she belongs chiefly to The Magician’s Nephew, the prequel. She does not make the wardrobe discovery in the first published novel; Lucy is the character associated with that famous entrance.
