Which character becomes a racer alongside Lightning McQueen in Pixar's Cars 3?

Cruz Ramirez becomes a racer alongside Lightning McQueen in Pixar's Cars 3.

Cruz begins the film as a highly capable trainer and simulator specialist at the Rust-eze Racing Center. She initially helps McQueen prepare for competition against the faster new generation, especially Jackson Storm. Her own racing potential becomes clear as the story develops.

Cristela Alonzo voices Cruz Ramirez. The film gives Cruz a major character arc: she moves from doubting her own ability to accepting her identity as a racer. McQueen supports her by passing on his racing number and allowing her to take the track in a crucial competition.

Cruz is different from Sally Carrera, McQueen's lawyer and romantic partner, and Holley Shiftwell, the spy agent from Cars 2. Cars 3 was released in 2017 and focuses on legacy, confidence, and making room for new competitors.
