Which Chanel fragrance was introduced in 2001?
Answer
Coco Mademoiselle
Answer
Coco Mademoiselle
Coco Mademoiselle was the Chanel fragrance introduced in 2001.
The perfume was created for a younger audience while retaining Chanel’s polished, luxurious identity. Jacques Polge, Chanel’s in-house perfumer from 1978 to 2015, composed it as a modern woody-floral fragrance. Its structure combines bright orange with floral jasmine and rose, followed by a distinctive base of patchouli and vetiver.
The name can cause confusion because Chanel has several internationally famous fragrances. No. 5 dates to 1921, while Coco arrived in 1984 and provided the name’s direct predecessor. Allure was introduced in 1996, and Chance followed in 2003, so none of those matches the 2001 date.
Coco Mademoiselle later expanded into related versions, including Coco Mademoiselle Intense and L’Eau Privée. Its advertising also became strongly associated with actress Keira Knightley, who starred as Coco Chanel in a 2006 Chanel advertising film directed by Joe Wright.
