Which catchphrase did Little Caesars introduce in 1979?
Answer
Pizza! Pizza!
Answer
Pizza! Pizza!
Little Caesars introduced the catchphrase “Pizza! Pizza!” in 1979.
The slogan promoted a two-pizza value offer: customers could get two pizzas for roughly the price competitors charged for one. Little Caesars originally packaged the pair side by side in a long, specially designed box, making the deal visually distinctive as well as inexpensive.
Little Caesars was founded in 1959 by married couple Mike and Marian Ilitch in Garden City, Michigan. Its first franchise opened in 1962, but the “Pizza! Pizza!” campaign became one of the chain’s defining marketing moments. The company continues to use the phrase prominently in its branding.
A common mix-up is confusing the slogan with “Hot-N-Ready,” another Little Caesars phrase. “Hot-N-Ready” describes pizzas prepared for immediate carryout and was introduced much later, in the 1990s. “No One Outpizzas the Hut” belongs to Pizza Hut, while “Better Ingredients. Better Pizza.” is associated with Papa John’s. In Canada, Little Caesars has historically avoided “Pizza! Pizza!” because the unrelated Pizza Pizza chain holds the Canadian trademark.
