Lexus uses an oval badge containing a stylized letter L.
Toyota launched Lexus in 1989 as its luxury-vehicle brand. The emblem combines a metallic oval with an angular L formed by a curved, tapered stroke. The design was intended to look modern, precise, and understated rather than ornate.
The Lexus name and badge first appeared with the LS 400 and ES 250 in the United States. The brand later expanded internationally and became one of Japan’s best-known luxury marques.
The emblem can be confused with other automotive badges built around a single initial, especially Lincoln’s star-like design and Lotus’s circular badge. Lexus is distinguished by the L inside a broad oval, usually mounted on the grille or steering wheel.
