Which car brand’s emblem is a four-leaf clover called the Quadrifoglio?

The story behind the answer

Alfa Romeo’s four-leaf clover emblem is called the Quadrifoglio.

The Italian word quadrifoglio means “four-leaf clover.” Alfa Romeo began using the symbol in motorsport in 1923, when driver Ugo Sivocci painted a green four-leaf clover on a white square on his racing car. Sivocci won the 1923 Targa Florio, helping the symbol become linked with Alfa Romeo’s sporting success.

Sivocci died later that year during practice for the Italian Grand Prix. His car lacked the Quadrifoglio, and the episode strengthened the emblem’s reputation as a good-luck sign.

Modern Alfa Romeo performance models use Quadrifoglio as a name and badge. It should not be confused with an ordinary decorative clover: in Alfa Romeo history, the term specifically refers to the four-leaf racing emblem.
