Which Buck Owens song was later recorded by the Beatles for their 1965 album Help!?

Buck Owens’s “Act Naturally” was later recorded by the Beatles for their 1965 album “Help!”.

Owens released the song in 1963, and it became one of his major country hits. The lyric humorously imagines a singer being cast in a movie because his real-life heartbreak means he can “act naturally” in a sad role.

The Beatles recorded their version with Ringo Starr on lead vocals. Their adaptation appeared on the North American edition of “Help!” and paired a country-flavored song with the band’s broader pop-rock sound.

The song is sometimes confused with “Everybody’s Trying to Be My Baby,” another country-associated number recorded by the Beatles. That track was associated with Carl Perkins, while “Act Naturally” originated with Owens and songwriter Johnny Russell.
