Which browser was created by Opera Software?
Answer
Opera
Answer
Opera
The browser created by Opera Software was Opera. Its development began in 1994 as a research project at Telenor, Norway’s telecommunications company, led by programmers Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner and Geir Ivarsøy.
In 1995, the developers formed Opera Software, and the first stable Opera release appeared on April 10 of that year. The browser was initially known as MultiTorg Opera during its early development. Its early interface was notable for a multiple-document design and a sidebar-style “hotlist,” features that helped it stand apart from Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
Opera was commercially distributed for its first decade, first as trialware and later with advertising for unpaid users. It became known for innovations including tabbed browsing, mouse gestures, Speed Dial, and a built-in sidebar. In 2013, Opera abandoned its proprietary Presto layout engine and moved to Chromium-based technology using Blink.
Vivaldi is sometimes confused with Opera because it was founded by former Opera executives and employees, but it is a separate browser company.
