Which British monarch made a 1976 U.S. state visit during the bicentennial before America250?

The story behind the answer

Queen Elizabeth II made a 1976 U.S. state visit during the bicentennial before America250.

The queen and her husband, Prince Philip, visited the United States from July 6 to July 11, 1976. Their itinerary included Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., New York City, New Haven, Charlottesville, Providence, and Boston.

President Gerald Ford received the queen on July 7. During the visit, she presented the Bicentennial Bell in Philadelphia on behalf of the British people. The bell was made as a replica of the Liberty Bell and carried a message celebrating freedom.

The visit is sometimes confused with trips by other British monarchs. Queen Victoria never visited the United States, and King George VI visited in 1939 and 1951. Charles III became king decades after the 1976 bicentennial visit.
