Jaguar is the British luxury car manufacturer that produced the E-Type, famously associated with Enzo Ferrari’s praise for its beauty.
The E-Type debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961. Its long bonnet, low nose, flowing rear bodywork and independent rear suspension gave it a dramatic appearance, while its 3.8-liter straight-six engine delivered about 265 horsepower and a claimed top speed near 150 mph. It offered exceptional performance at a price below many comparable exotic sports cars.
The design was created by Malcolm Sayer, an aeronautical engineer who had also worked on Jaguar’s racing C-Type and D-Type. The E-Type benefited directly from that competition heritage, and Jaguar’s racing successes in the 1950s helped establish the engineering reputation behind the road car.
The Enzo Ferrari quotation is widely repeated, although the exact wording and whether he said it publicly are not fully documented. That uncertainty does not change the quiz answer: the E-Type is a Jaguar model. Lotus, Bentley and Aston Martin are also British marques, but they did not manufacture the E-Type.
