Which British general was killed at the 1759 Battle of Quebec?

The British general killed at the 1759 Battle of Quebec was James Wolfe.

Wolfe commanded the British assault in the Battle of the Plains of Abraham on September 13, 1759. After a three-month siege, his troops landed west of Quebec, climbed the steep heights from the Saint Lawrence River, and formed up on the plateau above the city.

The British defeated French forces commanded by Louis-Joseph de Montcalm in a battle that lasted only a short time. Wolfe was wounded repeatedly and died on the field after learning that the French had begun retreating. Montcalm was also mortally wounded and died the following morning, making the battle notable for the deaths of both opposing commanders.

Wolfe is sometimes confused with Jeffery Amherst, the senior British commander in North America, or Edward Braddock, who died in the earlier 1755 Battle of the Monongahela. Wolfe’s victory helped bring Quebec under British control.
