Which British Dragons' Den investor joined Peter Jones in backing Levi Roots's sauce business?

The story behind the answer

Richard Farleigh joined Peter Jones in backing Levi Roots's sauce business on Dragons' Den.

Levi Roots appeared on the programme in 2007 seeking investment for his Reggae Reggae Sauce. Farleigh and Jones jointly offered £50,000 for a 40% share of the company, creating one of the show's most recognisable success stories.

Farleigh was an Australian-British investor and former fund manager. He was a Dragon during the programme's early years, but he did not remain on the panel permanently. His involvement in the Roots deal is therefore sometimes confused with the later growth of the brand, which is more strongly associated with Peter Jones in popular coverage.

The partnership helped Roots move from small-scale production toward national retail distribution. The product subsequently expanded into a broader range of Caribbean-inspired food and sauces.
