Cameron Balloons built the Cameron Z-1600, one of the world’s largest passenger hot-air balloons.
Cameron Balloons is a British manufacturer founded by Don Cameron in Bristol in 1971. The company produces balloons for sport, commercial passenger flights, special events and record attempts. Its Z-1600 model has an envelope volume of approximately 1.6 million cubic feet, giving it the capacity to carry many passengers when operated under appropriate conditions.
Large balloons require more than simply adding fabric. Designers must account for envelope strength, burner output, fuel capacity, basket structure, inflation procedures and the additional weight of passengers. A bigger envelope can hold more heated air, but it also demands more careful ground handling and flight planning.
The Z-1600 is a model designation, not the name of a festival or a separate type of balloon. Cameron Balloons is best known for manufacturing the aircraft, while operators may fly them in different countries and commercial settings.
