East 17 released the 1994 single “Stay Another Day.”
The song was written by Tony Mortimer, a member of East 17, and became the group’s only UK number-one single. Its wintry production and emotional lyrics made it a recurring Christmas-season favorite, even though it was not originally written as a Christmas song.
“Stay Another Day” was included on East 17’s second studio album, Steam. The record helped the group move beyond the tougher, street-influenced image associated with some of its earlier material.
Listeners can confuse the song with East 17’s later seasonal releases because of its bells and orchestral atmosphere. The title is specifically the 1994 hit that reached the top of the UK Singles Chart in December.
