British actor Joe Alwyn received co-producer recognition for Taylor Swift’s “august.” He was credited under the pseudonym William Bowery on Folklore-related songwriting and production work.
Swift and Jack Antonoff are the principal writers and producers associated with the song. Alwyn’s contribution was recognized by the Recording Academy after Folklore won Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021.
A common mix-up is assuming that Alwyn performed vocals or played a visible role in the recording. His connection to “august” is behind-the-scenes production credit. He also contributed to other Folklore and Evermore tracks under the William Bowery name.
