Jack Hinshelwood scored twice in 79 seconds against Aston Villa on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Brighton & Hove Albion raced into a four-goal lead within the first 31 minutes at the American Express Stadium. Hinshelwood supplied two of those goals, scoring them only 79 seconds apart as Brighton made a remarkable start.
Maxim De Cuyper scored Brighton’s other goal, while Aston Villa defender Victor Lindelöf contributed an own goal. Villa’s afternoon worsened when João Gomes was sent off five minutes before half-time, leaving the visitors with ten players.
Brighton eventually won 4–0, the largest home victory of the opening round. Their four first-half goals also placed the match among a small group of Premier League Matchweek 1 games in which a team scored four times before the interval. The other teams previously listed in that group were Bolton Wanderers in 2001, Manchester United in 2007 and Liverpool in 2020.
