Which brand's slogan is 'Just Do It'?

The story behind the answer

Which brand’s slogan is “Just Do It”? Nike is the answer.

“Just Do It” is Nike’s trademarked slogan and one of the most influential advertising taglines in modern branding. It is commonly displayed alongside Nike’s Swoosh logo, linking the phrase’s motivational message with the company’s athletic identity.

The slogan was created in 1988 by Dan Wieden, co-founder of the advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy, which worked with Nike. Wieden later said the wording was inspired by the reported final words of Gary Gilmore, “Let’s do it,” before changing the phrase to the shorter, more commanding “Just Do It.” Nike’s first advertisement using the campaign featured the 80-year-old runner Walt Stack.

People sometimes confuse the slogan with Nike’s logo. The Swoosh is the visual symbol; “Just Do It” is the verbal brand line. The campaign was designed to speak not only to elite athletes but also to ordinary people, presenting exercise as a personal challenge. Between 1988 and 1998, Nike’s North American athletic-shoe market share rose from 18% to 43%.
