Blue represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.
The English boy band Blue represented the United Kingdom at Eurovision 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany. They performed “I Can,” a song written by Duncan James, Lee Ryan, Ciaron Bell, and others, and finished 11th in the grand final with 100 points.
Blue’s participation is sometimes confused with other British or Irish boy bands. Westlife never represented the United Kingdom at Eurovision, Take That did not compete, and Five did not enter the contest. Blue’s appearance was especially notable because the group had reunited after its original breakup in 2005.
The lineup at Eurovision consisted of Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan, and Simon Webbe. Blue had previously achieved major success in the United Kingdom and Europe with songs including “All Rise,” “One Love,” and “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word,” recorded with Elton John.
