*NSYNC released the 2000 album No Strings Attached.
Jive Records issued the album on March 21, 2000. It was *NSYNC’s second studio album, following their self-titled international debut. The record marked a major commercial leap, combining contemporary pop production with the group’s coordinated vocal harmonies and dance-focused presentation.
No Strings Attached included the singles “Bye Bye Bye,” “It’s Gonna Be Me,” and “This I Promise You.” It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and set a first-week US sales record at the time, with more than 2.4 million copies sold in its first week.
The album is sometimes confused with Celebrity, *NSYNC’s third and final studio album, released in 2001. It is also often compared with the Backstreet Boys’ Millennium because both groups dominated turn-of-the-century teen pop. However, No Strings Attached belongs specifically to *NSYNC and represents the group’s commercial peak.
