Which boy band released the 1996 single “Get Down (You're the One for Me)”?

The story behind the answer

The Backstreet Boys released the 1996 single “Get Down (You’re the One for Me).”

The song was written by Bülent Aris and Toni Cottura, with rap contributions associated with Smooth T. It was released as the second single from the group’s debut international album, Backstreet Boys, and helped establish the group in European markets before its major US breakthrough.

The Backstreet Boys had formed in Orlando, Florida, in 1993. Their original lineup consisted of Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson. The group’s early success developed particularly strongly in Europe and Canada.

The title is sometimes shortened to “Get Down,” but the full single title includes the subtitle “You’re the One for Me.” It should not be confused with later Backstreet Boys singles such as “Everybody” or “Larger than Life.”
