The Bob Marley compilation album released in 1984, three years after his death, was Legend.
Island Records issued Legend on 8 May 1984. It collected well-known songs recorded with the Wailers, including “One Love/People Get Ready,” “No Woman, No Cry,” “Three Little Birds,” and “Redemption Song.” The compilation introduced Marley’s music to many listeners who had not followed his original albums.
Legend became one of the best-selling reggae albums ever and is widely considered the most commercially successful reggae compilation. It is not a studio album recorded as a single project, which distinguishes it from Exodus, Kaya, and Uprising.
