Answer
Ethereum
Answer
Ethereum
Which blockchain's native currency is ether? Ethereum is the blockchain whose native cryptocurrency is ether, commonly abbreviated ETH.
Ethereum was proposed by Vitalik Buterin in 2013 and launched on 30 July 2015 after development was funded partly through a 2014 crowdsale. Unlike Bitcoin, which was designed primarily for peer-to-peer payments, Ethereum was built as a programmable platform for smart contracts and decentralized applications.
Ether is used to pay transaction fees, called gas, and to compensate validators for helping secure the network. The blockchain moved from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake during The Merge on 15 September 2022. In everyday speech, people often say “Ethereum” when they mean the asset, but Ethereum is the network and ether is its native currency.
Ether is also not the same thing as every token created on Ethereum. Thousands of tokens, including many stablecoins and governance tokens, use Ethereum’s infrastructure but are separate assets.
