Which biblical book records the story of Noah's Ark?

The story behind the answer

The biblical story of Noah's Ark is recorded in Genesis.

The main narrative appears in Genesis chapters 6 through 9. These chapters describe the world's violence, God's instructions for building the ark, the Flood, the survival of Noah's family and the animals, the recession of the waters, and the covenant that follows.

Genesis is the first book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament. Its opening sections contain creation stories, genealogies, the accounts of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and the spread of human wickedness before the Flood. Noah's story therefore forms part of Genesis's early primeval history.

Other biblical books refer to Noah, including Isaiah, Ezekiel, and the New Testament, but they do not provide the primary Ark narrative. The closely related flood story in the Qur'an is found in a different scripture and has its own wording and emphasis, so “Genesis” is the precise answer for the biblical Ark account.
