“Crazy in Love” features Jay-Z and won the 2004 Grammy for Best R&B Song.
Released in 2003, “Crazy in Love” was the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. The song was produced by Rich Harrison and Beyoncé, with a prominent horn sample derived from “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So)” by the Chi-Lites. Jay-Z contributes the opening rap verse, making the recording a collaboration between the two artists.
The song became Beyoncé’s first solo number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. Its energetic brass hook, dance-focused video, and vocal performance helped define her transition from group star to solo headliner. The single also won three awards at the 46th Grammy Awards in 2004: Best R&B Song, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
“Drunk in Love” is another well-known Beyoncé and Jay-Z collaboration, but it appeared a decade later on the album Beyoncé. That difference in release era is a common source of confusion.
