Beyoncé’s character Nala sings “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” in Disney’s 2019 film The Lion King.
The 2019 film is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated film. Jon Favreau directed it, and Beyoncé voiced the adult Nala. Donald Glover voiced Simba, while James Earl Jones returned as Mufasa from the original film.
Nala is Simba’s childhood friend and later becomes his partner. In the story, she leaves the Pride Lands to seek help when Scar’s rule brings ecological collapse and suffering. Her journey helps motivate Simba to return and challenge Scar.
“Can You Feel the Love Tonight” was originally written by Elton John and Tim Rice for the 1994 film. The 2019 version features Donald Glover and Beyoncé, with additional vocals by Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen in the film sequence. Beyoncé also contributed the original song “Spirit” to the remake’s soundtrack.
