Beyoncé’s 2016 visual album with twelve songs is Lemonade.
Lemonade was released on April 23, 2016, through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. It was accompanied by an hour-long film that premiered on HBO, combining music, poetry, imagery, and short narrative segments. The album’s visual presentation made it more than a conventional collection of audio tracks.
Its songs move through themes including identity, family, betrayal, forgiveness, Black womanhood, and resilience. The project drew on multiple styles, including R&B, rock, country, blues, pop, and hip-hop. Notable tracks include “Formation,” “Sorry,” “Hold Up,” and “All Night.”
Lemonade is sometimes mistaken for Renaissance, Beyoncé’s 2022 studio album. Renaissance was also presented as part of a larger artistic project, but it is a dance-oriented album rather than the 2016 visual album built around a companion film.
