Lemonade made Beyoncé the first artist to debut their first six albums at number one in the United States.
Released in 2016, Lemonade became her sixth consecutive album to enter the Billboard 200 at number one. The achievement followed Dangerously in Love, B’Day, I Am... Sasha Fierce, 4, and Beyoncé.
The album was presented as a visual album, with its music accompanied by a film shown on HBO. Its songs and chapters explore themes including identity, betrayal, grief, reconciliation, Black womanhood, and family history.
This question asks about the chart record, not the album’s release format. Lemonade is also frequently discussed because of its visual presentation and its use of poetry, imagery, and multiple musical styles. Later releases continued Beyoncé’s run of major chart achievements, but Lemonade was the sixth album in the sequence.
