Mykita is the Berlin eyewear brand that introduced a patented screwless hinge system in 2003.
Mykita was founded in Berlin in 2003 by Harald Gottschling, Daniel Haffmans, Philipp Haffmans, and Michael Gieß. The founders had previously worked together at ic! berlin, but Mykita developed as a separate company with its own engineering and design language.
Its frames are known for a hinge system that avoids traditional screws. The construction allows the frame to be assembled from sheet materials and folded into a lightweight structure. Mykita has used stainless steel, acetate, and other materials across different collections.
The name is sometimes mistaken for a generic reference to “my” eyewear, but it is a brand name. Mykita is also frequently confused with ic! berlin because both companies originated in Berlin and are associated with minimalist, screwless eyewear.
