Which beer company was formed when InBev acquired Anheuser-Busch in 2008?
Answer
Anheuser-Busch InBev
Answer
Anheuser-Busch InBev
Anheuser-Busch InBev was formed when InBev acquired Anheuser-Busch in 2008.
InBev agreed to buy the American brewer in July 2008, and the transaction closed in November that year. The deal combined InBev’s international brands and brewing network with Anheuser-Busch’s powerful U.S. business and flagship Budweiser brand.
InBev had itself been created in 2004 by the merger of Interbrew of Belgium and AmBev of Brazil. After acquiring Anheuser-Busch, the enlarged company was first known as Anheuser-Busch InBev, commonly abbreviated AB InBev.
The company later expanded further by acquiring Grupo Modelo’s U.S. business and SABMiller. A frequent confusion is with Molson Coors, another large brewer created through a different merger. AB InBev’s portfolio has included Budweiser, Stella Artois, Beck’s, Corona, and Brahma.
