Which band released the 1991 album 'Arise'?
Answer
Sepultura
Answer
Sepultura
Sepultura released the 1991 album Arise.
It was the Brazilian band’s fourth studio album and an important release in the development of their aggressive thrash- and death-metal-influenced style. The title track, “Dead Embryonic Cells,” and “Desperate Cry” became well-known examples of the band’s early work.
The album was recorded with producer Scott Burns, whose production had already become strongly associated with extreme metal. Sepultura’s lineup included vocalist and guitarist Max Cavalera, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Jr., and drummer Igor Cavalera.
Arise followed Beneath the Remains and preceded Chaos A.D. The latter moved toward a broader groove-metal sound, while Arise is often remembered for its faster, more extreme character. Sepultura’s Brazilian origin also helped challenge the idea that major extreme-metal innovation came only from North America or Europe.
