Which band played the final scheduled set at Woodstock ’99?

The story behind the answer

Red Hot Chili Peppers played the final scheduled set at Woodstock ’99.

Woodstock ’99 was held from July 22 to 25, 1999, at the former Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York. The festival commemorated the 30th anniversary of the original Woodstock and featured major rock, metal, rap, and alternative acts across several days.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed late on the final night, Sunday, July 25. Their set included songs from the band’s late-1990s repertoire, including material associated with the albums Californication and One Hot Minute. The festival ended after their performance, although disorder and fires were reported around the site afterward.

Woodstock ’99 is often confused with Woodstock ’94, the earlier anniversary festival held in Saugerties, New York. The two events had different locations, lineups, and reputations. Woodstock ’99 became particularly controversial because of overcrowding, sanitation problems, heat, violence, and property damage.
